Gloucester Cathedral — A great Architectural landmark in Gloucester that has a lot of history. This great Cathedral is in some of the scenes of Harry Potter.
Avoid it and stay in Cheltenham. Fatcivvy LE. Cheltenham but not when the horse racing is in town. Military Museum at Gloucester Docks and a rather good antique market in one of the old warehouses. Slimbridge Bird Sanctuary not far away. Rare Breeds Farm somewhere nearby too long time since I visited. Civil War Museum in Worcester. Rose and Crown at Nympesfield nr Stroud does excellent food. Castle House Hotel in Hereford might be somewhat pricy to stay in, but if you go for the day - cathedral, mappa mundi - you can have a splendidly old-fashioned afternoon tea served on the terrace by the river.
As a couple of people have mentioned, the Soldiers of Gloucestershire museum in the refurbished dock area is worth a visit.
Also the vast proportions of Gloucester Cathedral are stunning. You then return to civilised Cheltenham which has lots of splendid places to eat, and afterwards you stroll up to the whisky bar John Gordons — Whisky, Gin, Rum, Vodka, Wine Bar and Merchant - nuff said.
